The 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), adopted by all United Nations Member States, are part of an interconnected strategy to build a better world for all people on our planet by 2030. Many challenges to achieving the sustainable development of our world are faced by people everywhere, regardless of political boundaries, so the efforts must be truly collaborative and involve partnerships across the globe. The 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) outlined by the United Nations are a systematic plan to build a better world for people and our planet by 2030.
How it Works for Students
Students will learn about one of six selected sustainable development goals (SDGs) and how community based and nonprofit organizations around the world are taking action towards achieving this goal. Students will gain skills in storytelling, intercultural communications, and collaborative project development by telling the story of one of these partner organizations through the framework of one of the SDGs. Partner organizations around the world will work with groups of students to develop these stories, and receive use of the final products. Coursework on intercultural storytelling and international perspectives on the selected SDG will provide concepts and knowledge that students will apply to the development and execution of their projects.
